Keeping Safe. Changing Lives

During these unusual times, Strength for the Journey continues our work of creating capacities that help improve the lives of those living in poverty.

The main story
With schools closed and classes cancelled, we miss our cute, smart, silly students!  They have such a love for learning and enthusiasm to overcome whatever barriers are in their way.

We at Strength for the Journey decided that the best way to both honor and help our kids was
for our  teachers to learn new methods to improve our teaching. 

We are using this time to take two classes, Identifying Reading and Writing Levels to Improve Teaching and G Suite for Education, using the Chrome Books donated by Port Clinton Schools.

Water Line Under Construction!

The water company gave formal approval and the digging has begun in Arroyo Frio. This week we will install pipes and connect to the mountain water line.  All volunteer labor is provided by community members  who are extremely happy that they will have access to running water and will not need to live on rain water collected in barrels.  Thanks, again, to donors David and Pat George who are making this all possible.

Face Masks for All!

Those living in remote mountain communities have little or no access to stores where face masks can be purchased.  Thus, we were especially appreciative to receive the donation of 1,000 face masks from Cary and Bruce Serburne.

With the help of local pastors, priests, and church representatives in each community, all 1,000 masks were distributed. Thanks, Cary and Bruce, for keeping the people in Jamao safe.
